Eastern Townships
IT services in the Eastern Townships, delivered remotely
There is no OKTO Solutions office in the Eastern Townships, and no technician posted there. The company’s only location is in Trois-Rivières, and the service is delivered to the Townships over the network, with planned visits when hardware has to be handled. This page lays out what that means for you.
OKTO Solutions offers its services to small and mid-sized businesses in the Eastern Townships from Trois-Rivières, remote first, with planned visits. Granby is about 137 km from the office and Sherbrooke about 151 km. Support, monitoring, cybersecurity and Microsoft 365 run over the network; travel is for hardware.
Who provides IT services to businesses in the Eastern Townships?
OKTO Solutions offers its services to small and mid-sized businesses in the Eastern Townships from Trois-Rivières, remote first, with planned visits. The company has no office in the region and says so openly: its single location is at 994 boulevard du Saint-Maurice, about 137 km from Granby and about 151 km from Sherbrooke. Day-to-day work goes through the network. A slow workstation, a locked account, a Microsoft 365 mailbox to set up, a security patch or a file to bring back are all handled by remote session while the person stays on the line. Travel is kept for hardware: cabling, a switch, a wireless access point, a server to install or remove. The visit is then booked with a confirmed date and arrival time, and several jobs are bundled into it. A new workstation leaves Trois-Rivières already prepared, patched, encrypted and joined to the company directory. The Base, Standard and Complet plans apply exactly as they do elsewhere in Quebec.
Two cities, two subjects
Which Eastern Townships cities have their own page?
Only two. A long roll of municipalities would teach nobody anything. What is useful here is a plain account of how a remotely delivered service works, so each city page digs into one specific subject.
| City | Distance from the office | What its page covers |
|---|---|---|
| Granby | about 137 km | Moving from the old server to the cloud |
| Sherbrooke | about 151 km | Microsoft 365 set up properly |
The model
How do you serve a region where you have no office?
By putting the tools in place before they are needed. Our management tools go onto your workstations and servers at the start. From then on, a request does not wait for a car to hit the road: a technician takes control of the device, sees what the user sees and fixes the issue during the call. The vast majority of a small business’s requests close that way, whether the office is in Granby or two streets from ours.
Monitoring works on the same principle. Servers, backups and network links are watched continuously, security patches go out without a visit, and the antivirus is managed centrally. Nobody needs to be in the room for that.
That leaves hardware. A new laptop bound for Sherbrooke is set up in Trois-Rivières before it leaves: Windows current, disk encrypted, account tied to your directory. All you do is plug it in. That is what makes the arrangement workable, because a trip of about 151 km should never be spent installing Windows.
Now the limit. An organization that wants someone on its premises every day will be better served by a provider from its own area, and we say so from the first call.
- Remote control of the workstation during the call
- Servers, backups and links watched continuously
- Hardware prepared in Trois-Rivières before it leaves

Where the line falls
What gets fixed remotely, and what waits for a visit?
The rule fits in a sentence: software travels over the network, hardware needs hands. Here is which side the usual requests from a Townships business land on.
No travel needed
- A sluggish workstation, a frozen program, a printer that sulks
- A locked account, someone joining or leaving the team
- Shared mailboxes and permissions in Microsoft 365
- Patches, managed antivirus and laptop encryption
- A phishing email, a compromised account, a lost device
- A file, a mailbox or a virtual server to restore
With a planned visit
- Cabling for a room, a switch, a wireless access point
- A physical server to install or take out of the room
- Premises to open, move or close
- A batch of workstations to replace in one go
- The physical inventory and the list of end-of-life equipment
- A planning meeting with management
More than one address
What if your company has one office in Granby and another in Sherbrooke?
Both are looked after together, by the same team. Since OKTO is next door to neither, there is no favourite site: the main office and the small branch get the same attention.
A single console
Granby and Sherbrooke sit side by side in the monitoring window, under the same security rules. Nobody has to wonder which of the two is up to date.
Centralized accounts
Identities live in Microsoft 365. Someone who works in Granby on Monday and in Sherbrooke on Thursday signs in and finds their files, without the workstation being rebuilt.
One backup method
Both sites are copied the same way, and a restore is tried for each. The detail is on the backup and disaster recovery page.
The territory
The Townships, a manufacturing region spread over a wide area
Estrie, the administrative region that covers the Eastern Townships, had about 527,300 residents on July 1, 2025, by the still provisional count of the Institut de la statistique du Québec. The region takes in nine regional county municipalities and equivalent territories, and Sherbrooke alone holds more than a third of the population.
Two features of the region weigh on a small business’s IT. The first is manufacturing: it accounted for 16.6% of jobs in Estrie in 2025, against 10.8% across Quebec, as the provincial government’s socioeconomic profile of the region reports. A plant has workstations in the office and others on the shop floor, and both have to be looked after. The second is how spread out people are: a third of residents live in rural areas, against 18.1% for Quebec as a whole, according to the same profile. A company set up far from an urban centre does not always have a provider around the corner, and a service delivered over the network suits it well.
A word about Granby. The regional county municipality of La Haute-Yamaska, where the city sits, moved from Montérégie to Estrie on July 28, 2021, along with Brome-Missisquoi. Documents published before that date therefore still place it in Montérégie.
OKTO’s office is in Trois-Rivières. West of the Townships, see Montérégie, and for every other territory, the service areas page. If your servers are nearing end of life, the cloud and Azure page explains what can leave the server room.
