Accessibility statement

Last updated: September 5, 2026. This statement covers the www.oktosolutions.ca website.

1. Our commitment

An information technology company whose site cannot be used by keyboard, or cannot be read by a screen reader, is hard to defend. We built this one with accessibility in mind from the design stage, not bolted on at the end. The goal is plain: nobody should have to ask for help to read a page or fill out a form.

2. The level we aim for

We aim for conformance with level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, published by the W3C. That is the level most public bodies and the standards in force in Canada use as their reference. What we are describing is a target we hold to and verify at every update, not a certification issued by a third party: nobody has audited us to attest to it.

3. What is already in place

• Full keyboard navigation. Every menu, link, button and field is reachable with the tab key, in a logical order, with a visible focus indicator.
• Skip link. A Skip to content link appears on the very first tab press and jumps over the header and the navigation.
• Contrast. Text and background colours meet the contrast ratios required at level AA, including on buttons and dark bands.
• Alternative text. Every image that carries meaning has a description. Purely decorative images carry an empty alt attribute so screen readers skip them.
• Reduced motion. If your system is set to reduce motion, scroll reveals and animated counters are turned off automatically.
• Consistent heading structure. One H1 per page, then H2 and H3 in order, with no skipped level, so headings can be used to navigate.
• Labelled forms. Every field has an associated label, error messages are text and not colour alone, and groups of fields are announced correctly.
• Zoom and resizing. Text stays readable and the layout holds up to 200 per cent magnification, with no horizontal scrolling.
• Declared language. Canadian English is declared in the code on this version of the site, which gives speech synthesis the right pronunciation.

4. The known limits

Some points are still imperfect, and hiding them would serve no purpose.

• Some comparison tables are wide and scroll horizontally on a phone screen. The content stays available, but reading it takes more handling.
• A PDF document sent to a client is not always tagged for screen reading. On request, we provide the same content in an accessible format.
• Content hosted elsewhere, such as a video or a map, may not meet the same accessibility level, because we do not control its code.
• Older pages have not all been gone over with the same rigour as the main pages.

These points are on our work list. They get handled as the site is updated.

5. How to report a barrier

If a page blocks you, tell us. A one-line email is enough: give the address of the page, what you were trying to do and what did not work. If you use an assistive technology, name it, since that helps us reproduce the problem.

We acknowledge receipt within two business days and tell you what we can fix and when. If the fix takes time, we send you the information you asked for by another means in the meantime.

6. About this statement

It was prepared on September 5, 2026, by OKTO Solutions Inc., following an internal review of the site carried out with keyboard navigation, a screen reader and automated checking tools. It is reviewed at every significant redesign of the site.
