Website design and modernization experts

Website design and modernization for Quebec SMBs

Design, modernization, SEO, GEO and LLM optimization, complex integrations, automation, 3D rendering, animation and logo design: it all happens at OKTO Solutions, done by the same team. The site is then hosted directly on our secured servers, and it displays properly on a computer, a tablet and a phone.

Website design for a small business covers the visual design, the writing, the page build, the search optimization and the launch. A good business website loads in under two seconds, reads well on a phone, answers customers’ questions and complies with Law 25, Quebec’s law on personal information.

The starting point

What is a website actually for, when you run a small business?

It answers before the phone rings. Someone landing on your site wants to know three things within ten seconds: what you do, who you do it for, and how to reach you. If they have to hunt for it, they go back to Google and click the next result. So a business website is not a brochure you put online and then forget. It is the first salesperson your customers meet, the one who works evenings and weekends. It has to open fast on a phone with an average connection, because that is where most visits come from. It also has to be readable by search engines and by the assistants that summarize the web, since they are the ones deciding whether your name comes up when someone asks for a supplier in your area.

  • Each page answers one specific question a customer is asking
  • The phone number and the form are one click away, everywhere
  • The copy talks about your trade, not generalities

A clear title and a fast page: that is what gets you found, and then quoted.

What we do

What does OKTO actually do when it comes to websites?

Eight trades under one roof. You don’t have to coordinate a designer, a programmer, an SEO consultant and a hosting company who keep passing the buck.

Website design

A new site, drawn for your business, from the first sketch to launch day.

Modernization

Your current site brought up to date, without losing your copy, your addresses or your spot on Google.

SEO

Titles, descriptions, structured data and internal links, tuned page by page.

GEO and LLM

Direct answers and an llms.txt file, so ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews quote you.

Integrations and automation

Forms wired into your CRM, appointment booking, quote requests, payment, client portal. Even when it gets complicated.

3D rendering and animation

Your products or your premises modelled in 3D, and animations that show what you do in ten seconds.

Logo design

Logo, colours and typography. A look that holds up on a truck as well as on a screen.

Secure hosting

The site lives directly on our servers, monitored and backed up by the team that built it.

Every published change triggers the search optimization, the backup and the check on three screens again.

Hosting and updates

Where is the website hosted, and who keeps it up to date?

With us. Your site is hosted directly on our secured servers, not with a reseller on the other side of the world. Encrypted connection, backups, monitoring day and night: the team that already protects complete IT environments is the one looking after your site.

And it doesn’t age in a corner. With every addition or change, whether a page, a service or a photo, we update what the engines read: SEO for Google, GEO for answer engines, and the file meant for LLMs like ChatGPT. You don’t have to think about it, or ask for it.

  • A secured, protected site, with no plugins to keep an eye on
  • SEO, GEO and LLM redone with every change
  • Disaster recovery plan: everything is backed up and put back online quickly
  • 100% compatible with computer, tablet and phone, checked before each publication

What is included

What comes with a website built by OKTO?

Six things we deliver every time, because a site missing one of them ends up costing more to repair than it would have cost to do right the first time.

A design that looks like you

Your colours, your logo, your photos. We draw the pages for your business instead of filling in a purchased theme a hundred others already use.

Pages that load fast

The site is served as ready-made pages, with no database to query on every visit. The images are slimmed down. On a phone, you notice right away.

SEO from day one

Titles, descriptions, structured data, sitemap and links between pages. The site is written for Google and for the answer engines that cite their sources.

French and English

Each page has its counterpart in the other language, linked properly so Google shows the right version to the right person. French remains the reference version.

Law 25 compliance

Cookie consent banner, privacy policy, forms that ask only for what is necessary. No tracker starts before the visitor has said yes.

An editor for your own changes

You click on a piece of text or a photo, you change it, you publish. No need to call us to fix your opening hours or add an employee.

What we can build

What features can you add to a website?

A website is not just there to introduce you. Here is what businesses ask us for most often, and what their customers are looking for when they land on the page. Everything combines: we start with what brings in revenue and add the rest when you are ready.

  • Brochure site: your services, your past work and your contact details, clear from the first page.
  • Online store: catalogue, cart, secure payment and order tracking.
  • Online appointment booking: the customer picks a time slot, your calendar fills itself.
  • Quote request: a form that asks the right questions and lands straight in your CRM.
  • Automated forms: the request goes to the right place, the reply and the follow-up happen on their own.
  • Client portal: invoices, documents and file tracking behind a password.
  • Project gallery: project photos and before-and-afters, sorted by type of work.
  • Google reviews and Business Profile: your reviews displayed on the site, and the Google profile kept current.
  • Careers page: job postings and online applications, so you can hire without an agency.
  • Campaign pages: one page per Google or Facebook ad, built to make people call.
  • Blog and news: articles that answer your customers’ questions, all year long.
  • Newsletter: sign-up that complies with Canada’s anti-spam legislation (CASL), connected to your sending tool.
  • AI chatbot: it answers common questions and takes requests, day and night.
  • Bilingual or multilingual site: each language has its own pages, titles and SEO.

By trade

What does a website need for a plumber, a garage or a clinic?

Every trade has its customer, and every customer has a way of searching. Someone with water in the basement doesn’t read an “About” page: they want a phone number. Here, for the trades we see most often in Quebec, is what people type and what the site has to show them.

TradeWhat the customer typesWhat the site needs
Construction and renovation contractor“kitchen renovation contractor” and their cityBefore-and-after gallery, RBQ licence number in plain view, quote request with photos.
Plumber, electrician, roofer“emergency plumber” and their neighbourhoodClickable phone number at the top, service area, emergency hours, recent reviews.
Landscaping and snow removal“residential snow removal” and their cityMap of the territory covered, seasonal packages, online sign-up and payment.
Garage and mechanic shop“tire change” near themOnline appointment booking, list of services, text message reminder.
Dental, physio and health clinic“dentist accepting new patients”Online appointments, team presentation, forms that respect Law 25.
Accountant, notary, lawyer“accountant for small business” and their regionOne page per service, portal for dropping off documents, articles that answer common questions.
Restaurant and caterer“wedding caterer” and their cityMenu readable on a phone, reservations, online ordering, photos of the dishes.
Real estate broker“house for sale” and their areaProperty listings, online estimate, one page per neighbourhood.
Manufacturer and distributorthe name of the part or productProduct catalogue, spec sheets, 3D renderings, price request, careers page.

Your trade isn’t on the list? The method is the same: we start from what your customers are searching for, not from what we would like to tell them.

From the request made on the site to the customer follow-up, with nothing retyped.

Artificial intelligence and automation

Can you connect AI, a CRM or an ERP to a website?

Yes, and that is when a site really starts working for you. We build artificial intelligence right into the site: an AI chatbot that answers visitors in the evening and on weekends, forms that process themselves, whole processes that run one step after the other with nobody bridging the gaps.

Many of our clients combine their website project with OKTO PSA, our ERP and CRM. The quote request comes in through the site. The opportunity is created in the CRM. The full quote is prepared and sent, then the customer gets a follow-up. All of it happens automatically, thanks to OKTHAV, the agent developed by OKTO Solutions. And nothing goes out to the customer without your approval.

  • AI chatbot trained on your services and your answers
  • Forms and processes automated from end to end
  • Site, CRM and ERP connected: the request is never retyped

Content publishing

Who writes the blog posts once the website is live?

We do, if you want. We offer a content publishing service: blog posts written for your trade, your industry and the topics that keep coming up with your customers. A roofer talks about roofs in the spring, an accountant about tax season, a garage about winter tires before the first snow.

Each article answers a real question, the one your customers type into Google or ask an assistant. It is published on a set date, linked to your service pages, then reported to the search engines. A site that publishes regularly shows up more often than one that has been asleep since launch.

  • Topics chosen for your trade, your region and the season
  • Articles reviewed by you before publication, if you prefer
  • Publishing calendar kept up all year

From topic to published article, then reported to the search engines.

Comparison

Custom website, WordPress or online site builder: which one should you pick?

All three have a case. The right choice depends on what the site has to bring in and on who will be looking after it two years from now.

What we compareOnline site builderWordPress with a themeCustom OKTO website
Speed Decent, with no control over what gets loaded. It varies. Every plugin added slows the pages down. Ready-made pages, nothing useless to load.
Security and maintenance Handled by the platform. Core, theme and plugin updates to keep up with every month. No database and no exposed plugin. Very little surface to attack.
SEO Basic settings only. Good with the right plugins and someone to configure them. Built into every page, structured data included.
Editing the content Easy, within the limits of the template. Easy for posts, trickier for the layout. Visual editor for text and images. New sections go through us.
Who owns the site The platform. You leave, the site stays behind. You, if the accounts are in your name. You: domain, code, content.

An online site builder is plenty for a business that is just starting out and needs a page this week. If that is your situation, we will tell you.

The method

How a website design project unfolds, step by step

You see the site early, on a preview address, long before it goes live. Fixing a mockup takes an hour. Fixing a published site is another story.

  1. Scoping

We look at who your customers are, what they search for and what your competitors are doing. You leave with the list of pages, the scope and the schedule before you commit to anything.

  2. Mockup

The home page and one service page, in your colours, with real copy. This is where we adjust the tone and the style, while it costs next to nothing.

  3. Copy and build

We write the pages with you, or from your own copy. Each page is assembled, checked on phone, tablet and computer, then dropped onto the preview.

  4. Bringing over the old site

The posts and images are recovered. Each old address is redirected to the new one so the links Google already knows keep working.

  5. Launch

The switchover happens in a single move, and the old site stays ready to take its place back if something is off. The sitemap is submitted to the search engines the same day.

  6. Follow-up

Hosting, backups, monitoring and a traffic report. We look at the searches bringing people in and adjust the pages that aren’t showing up.

Each old address leads to its new page. None of them ends in an error.

Redesign

A website redesign that doesn’t cost you your spot on Google

It is the fear of everyone who already has a site that ranks a little: redo everything and vanish from the results. It happens, and almost always for the same reason. The addresses change, nobody redirects the old ones, and Google finds hundreds of dead pages on a Monday morning.

We do the opposite. Before touching anything, we draw up the complete list of addresses on the old site. Each one gets its destination. After the switchover, we replay all of them to confirm they land in the right place. We did it for our own site when we left WordPress, blog posts included.

  • Copy, images and posts carried over, nothing to retype
  • Both languages follow, each to its proper page

Being found everywhere

SEO, GEO, LLM: what is the difference, and why do you need all three?

SEO gets a site to show up in Google and Bing results. GEO gets it quoted in the answers written by the engines themselves, like Google’s AI Overviews or Perplexity. LLM work targets language models like ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot, which answer without showing a list of links. Your customers already use all three, often on the same day. A site built only for Google misses a growing share of searches. So we set up all three together, during the build, and redo them with every published change.

SEO: Google and Bing

One title and one description per page, valid structured data, a sitemap, fast pages and internal links. Each new page is reported to Google and Bing the day it goes live.

GEO: answer engines

A direct answer at the top of each page, headings worded the way people ask the question, tables and lists. Those are the passages these engines pick up and cite.

LLM: ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot

An up-to-date llms.txt file that sums up the site, pages readable without JavaScript, and open access for the language models’ crawlers. If the crawler can’t read the page, it won’t talk about you.

Ownership

What belongs to you once the website is live

Too many businesses find out their domain name is registered to an agency that no longer answers. With us, everything that matters is in your name from day one.

The domain name

Registered in your name, in an account you control. We administer it, you own it.

The site’s code

The complete files of the site, handed over on request. Another team can pick it up without starting from scratch.

The copy and the images

Everything written and produced for your site is yours, including what we wrote.

The statistics

The analytics accounts and Search Console are opened in your name. The history goes with you.

Logo, 3D and animation

Logo, 3D rendering and animation to go with the website

A nice site with a blurry logo shows. We draw the logo, set the colours and the typography, and hand you the files in every format, for the printer as well as for the web.

To show a product, a part or a space, we model it in 3D and spin it on screen. No need to wait for the prototype or rent a photo studio. The animations you see on this page were made here, by the same team.

  • Logo delivered in vector formats, with its variants
  • Still or animated 3D renderings, from your drawings or your photos
  • Lightweight animations that don’t slow the page down

A 3D object, a logo drawing itself, the brand colours.

Where to start

Send us the address of your current site, or three sites you like if you are starting from nothing. We come back to you with what we would keep, what we would change and an idea of the scope.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions about website design

How much does website design cost for a small business?
The amount depends on the number of pages, the languages, the copy to be written and what has to be carried over from the old site. It is set after a scoping meeting, once the scope is down in writing. Any figure thrown out before that step would be a guess. The meeting commits you to nothing.
How long does it take to get a website online?
It depends on your priority and on how complex the site is. A simple brochure site goes live quickly. An online store, a client portal or integrations with your software take longer. If you have a date to hit, say so at the scoping meeting: we build the schedule around it and deliver the pages that matter most first.
Can I edit my website myself after it is delivered?
Yes. The site comes with a visual editor: you click on a piece of text or an image in the page, you change it, you publish. No code to touch. For bigger changes, like a new section or a new page, we take care of it.
My current site runs on WordPress. Do I have to start over?
No. We bring over your copy, your images and your blog posts, and every address on the old site is redirected to its new page. The pages Google already knows keep their spot instead of turning into errors on switchover day.
Can you guarantee the first position on Google?
No, and nobody can honestly guarantee that. What we deliver is a site that has everything it needs to rank well: fast pages, carefully written titles and descriptions, valid structured data, and content that answers the questions your customers type. After that, the position depends on the competition and on time.
Will the website comply with Law 25?
The site ships with a cookie consent banner, a privacy policy and the name of the person responsible for personal information. The forms collect only what is necessary. Compliance for the business itself goes beyond the website, and we can help you with that too.
Who hosts the website, and who looks after it afterwards?
We do, directly on our own secured servers. The site is backed up, monitored and protected there. The domain name stays in your name. Since we also manage complete IT environments, your website, your email and your domain are handled by the same team, the one that answers when you call.
Do you build websites for businesses in Montreal, Quebec City or Trois-Rivières?
Yes. The office is in Trois-Rivières and we build websites for SMBs across Quebec: Montreal, Laval, the South Shore, Quebec City, Lévis, Mauricie and the regions. The work is done remotely, and scoping meetings are held in person when that helps. Every site gets one page per city served, so it shows up in local searches.
What happens if the website goes down or gets hacked?
We have a disaster recovery plan. The whole site is backed up: pages, images, forms and settings. If something happens, whether an outage, a handling mistake or an attack, we restore the last clean version and the site comes back online quickly. You have nothing to rebuild.
Do you also build online stores?
Yes. Product catalogue, cart, secure payment, tax and shipping calculation, order tracking. The store can be connected to your inventory and your accounting software to avoid entering everything twice.
Can you design our logo at the same time as the website?
Yes. We draw the logo, set the colours and the typography, then build the site with them. You receive the logo files in every format, for the printer, the vehicles and the web. We also do 3D renderings and animations to show your products.
Will my website be found by ChatGPT and other AI assistants?
The site is built for that. Each page opens with a direct answer, the language models’ crawlers have access to the content, and an llms.txt file sums up the site for them. We can’t guarantee an assistant will quote you, but we remove everything that would stop it.
Does the website work well on a phone and a tablet?
Yes, 100%. Each page is checked on phone, tablet and computer before it is published: nothing overflows, nothing is cut off, the buttons are easy to tap. Most visits come from a phone, so that is where we start.
Do I keep my domain name and my email addresses?
Yes. The domain name stays yours and email keeps working during the switchover. We check the domain settings before launch, so neither the site nor the email is interrupted.
Do you write the blog posts for us?
Yes. We offer a content publishing service: articles written for your trade, your industry and your customers’ questions, published on a schedule. Each article is linked to your service pages and reported to Google and Bing. You can review before publication or leave it to us.
Can you add an AI chatbot and connect the website to a CRM?
Yes. We set up a chatbot trained on your services, automate the forms and connect the site to your CRM or your ERP. With OKTO PSA and the OKTHAV agent, both developed by OKTO Solutions, a quote request made on the site becomes an opportunity, then a quote that is sent and followed up, automatically.

Show us your website, we’ll tell you what to do with it

One meeting is enough to know whether it should be redone, fixed or left alone. We say it straight, even when the answer doesn’t involve us.
