Why choose OKTO Solutions as your managed IT provider
OKTO Solutions is a managed IT services company with its head office in Trois-Rivières, in the Mauricie region of Quebec. This page compares our model with two other ways of running IT in a small or mid-sized business: handing everything to a Montreal-area provider that works mostly remotely, or hiring an in-house technician. We compare models, never named competitors.
Three ways to run IT in a small or mid-sized business
The first is to hire a technician in house. It is the model closest to your employees, and the most fragile: one person knows your systems, and everything stops while they are on vacation or after they leave.
The second is to hand IT to a provider based in a large city that works mostly remotely. The service is structured and available, but the person who answers changes often, and there is nobody nearby the day someone has to come on site.
The third one, ours, is to hand IT to a team based in the region, one that keeps a written record of your file, works in English and in French, and travels when it is needed. The table below puts the three models side by side, line by line.
OKTO, a remote Montreal provider, or an in-house technician
Nine lines of comparison, on what actually changes day to day. No prices: the amount depends on how many workstations you have and which package you choose.

| Criterion | Our modelOKTO Solutions | RemoteA Montreal provider | In houseAn internal technician |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commitment | A monthly package (Base, Standard or Complete), an hour bank, or a one-time intervention. You choose the model before you sign. | Almost always a monthly per-device package, with a minimum term and automatic renewal. | A salary, benefits, and a position to fill again when the person leaves. |
| First contact | A team that knows your file, answers in English or in French, and has a written record of your past service calls. | A shared service desk, where the person who answers is not always the same. | The same person, as long as they are available and not already on another problem. |
| Presence in Mauricie and on the South Shore | Head office in Trois-Rivières, in the Mauricie region. On the South Shore and in Montreal: remote coverage and planned visits, with no local office. | An office in the Montreal area. Mauricie is served remotely, from the city. | On site, but one person for all your locations, and nothing when two emergencies land at once. |
| Law 25 compliance | Access management, encryption, logging, an incident register, and support for the person responsible for the protection of personal information at your organization. | Varies from one provider to the next: have it spelled out in writing before you sign. | Depends entirely on what the person in the job knows, with no backup if they leave. |
| Hosting in Canada | Microsoft 365 in the Canadian tenant, data at rest in Canada. Azure in the Canada Central or Canada East regions. Backups kept in Canada. That is the default for every client, unless a different request is documented. | Often a foreign vendor's cloud, with no region written into the contract. | Whatever services the company already bought, rarely documented. |
| Monitoring | Continuous monitoring of workstations and servers with OKTO RMM, the tool OKTO builds. Alerts are handled by the team, not just displayed. | Monitoring with a resold off-the-shelf tool, shared across all of that provider's clients. | Monitoring during office hours, when there is any at all. |
| Communication | Reports and service notes written in plain language, in English or in French, with a record of what was done and why. | Portal, alerts and reports in a single language, rarely available in both. | Verbal most of the time, rarely documented, hard to find again a year later. |
| Tooling | Four tools built in house: OKTO RMM, OKTO PSA, OKTO Sign and OKTO Flux. A fix does not sit in a vendor's queue. | Resold off-the-shelf tools, with that vendor's delays and limits. | Whatever tools the company agreed to pay for, often incomplete. |
| Continuity when the key person is away | Several people have access to the file, the documentation and the credentials. Vacation does not put the service on hold. | Yes: the service desk takes over, at the cost of explaining the context again every time. | This is the weak point of the model: vacation, illness or a departure stops everything. |

What you can verify about OKTO Solutions
Everything below can be checked without taking our word for it.
The code signing certificate deserves a word of explanation. Microsoft verified the company's identity before issuing it. In practice, an application delivered by OKTO installs without the security warning Windows shows in front of software of unknown origin. Few IT providers in Quebec have gone through that process.
OKTO builds its own tools instead of reselling someone else's
Most managed IT providers resell a vendor's tools. OKTO builds them. When something goes wrong in the monitoring or in the ticket tracking, the fix does not depend on a foreign company's roadmap.
OKTO RMM
Monitors workstations and servers, applies patches, inventories the fleet and allows remote takeover. It is the tool that sees a full disk before you feel it.
OKTO PSA
Holds the tickets, the time, the assets and the history of every client. It is why the person answering you knows what was done last time.
OKTO Sign
Electronic document signing, hosted by OKTO rather than by a third party.
OKTO Flux
Automates alert handling and repetitive tasks between our tools, so the team's time goes to real requests.
What OKTO Solutions does not promise
A "why us" page that says nothing but good things is worth nothing. Here is what we refuse to write, and why.
- No office in a city where we do not have one. Our head office is in Trois-Rivières. Elsewhere in Quebec we work remotely with planned visits, and we say so.
- No response time in numbers until it has been measured. Publishing "on site in two hours" without having measured it is a promise that breaks on the first bad day.
- No prices posted. The amount depends on the number of workstations, the number of servers and the package you choose. We give it in a quote, after looking at your environment.
- No client name without written permission. Our public reviews can be checked on Google. Our case studies will come once the clients involved have agreed to them.

Frequently asked questions about OKTO Solutions
Yes. Coverage is remote, with planned visits, from Trois-Rivières. We have no office on the South Shore or in Montreal and we do not pretend otherwise. For an organization that needs someone on site every day, a provider next door to your offices is a better fit, and we will say so.
The company was founded in 2025. The team, for its part, has supported more than 100 organizations over more than 15 years, before and since the company was founded. We keep the two apart, because they are not the same thing.
Because it changes how long a fix takes. When a need comes up at a client, we can add it to OKTO RMM or OKTO PSA without waiting for a vendor's roadmap. It also keeps us independent of the price increases and licensing changes that hit the whole market.
Yes, from the first call through to the reports and the documentation. The service is offered in English and in French, at the same hours and through the same channels: phone, email and the client portal.
No. Monthly packages, the hour bank and one-time interventions exist side by side. We walk you through all three before you choose, and the length of the commitment is written in the agreement, not buried in it.
You leave with the documentation of your environment and your administrative credentials. We consider that documentation yours. A planned transition happens without any interruption of service.
Let's talk about your situation
We look at your environment, tell you what should change first, and hand you a clear quote. No commitment, and no selling you a package that does not fit.
