Website design for dentists and dental clinics in Quebec

A Quebec dental clinic website lists each dentist under the title the Ordre des dentistes du Québec recognizes, takes appointment requests online, explains what to do in a dental emergency and states which treatments RAMQ pays for children under 10. It carries no patient testimonials, because the dentists' code of ethics bans them from advertising. OKTO Solutions builds this kind of site for dental clinics across Quebec from its office in Trois-Rivières.

What does the Ordre des dentistes allow on a dental clinic website?

The Ordre's advertising rules apply whatever the channel, and the clinic website is no exception. The Code of ethics of dentists forbids using a testimonial of support or recognition. The Ordre's social media guidelines go further: a dentist must not welcome, encourage or even refer to such testimonials. So the Google reviews carousel on the home page has to go. Only a dentist who holds a specialist certificate can advertise a specialty. Everyone else adds the words dentiste généraliste after their name and lists treatments as a service, such as endodontic service or crown and bridge service. Comparative advertising is not allowed, and any skill you highlight has to be something you can back up on request. Have your copy reviewed by the Ordre or your advisor.

How can a clinic post before-and-after photos and prices without breaking the code?

A smile photo or an X-ray from the chart belongs to the patient. The Ordre's guidelines require the patient's explicit written consent before anything is shared, and the patient has to understand where the image will appear. Show real cases, with no retouching that flatters the result, since the code bans advertising that is misleading or incomplete. For prices, the code spells out what to state: the regular price, the type of service, the materials used, what is included, such as lab work, and any extra services that might be needed. An advertised regular price stays valid for at least 90 days after it was last published. A promotion shows its expiry date, with the regular and special prices in the same type size. The clinic also keeps a full copy of every ad for five years. Have it reviewed by the Ordre or your advisor.

What should a dental website say about emergencies and RAMQ coverage?

Toothaches and teeth chipped at hockey tend to show up in the evening. The emergency page says whether the clinic holds open slots every day, how to get one and where to go when the office is closed. On mobile, the phone number stays tappable at the top of the screen. Parents also look for what RAMQ pays. For children under 10, the public plan covers, among other things, the annual exam and emergency exams, X-rays, anesthesia, some fillings, extractions and root canal treatment, as long as the dentist takes part in the plan. Orthodontics and pit and fissure sealants are paid out of pocket at any age. The site therefore says plainly whether the clinic's dentists take part in the public plan and which insurers the clinic bills directly. RAMQ updates its list from time to time, so the page links to the Régie's site for the current version.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions: Dental clinic

Can I show my Google reviews on my dental clinic website?
No. The Code of ethics of dentists forbids using a testimonial of support or recognition in advertising, and the Ordre's social media guidelines add that dentists must not welcome, encourage or refer to them. The site relies on useful information instead: treatments offered, the team, office hours and what to do in an emergency.
Can online booking go through my dental practice software?
If your software has an online booking module, the site sends patients straight to it. If not, the site sends a request that the front desk confirms. Either way, the form asks for a name, a way to reach the person and the type of visit, not their health history. Quebec's Law 25 treats health information as sensitive, and the site names the person in charge of protecting it.
Can I call myself an implant specialist on my clinic website?
Only if you hold a specialist certificate recognized by the Ordre des dentistes du Québec. A general dentist can still list the treatments they provide, worded as a service, for example dental implant service, with dentiste généraliste after their name.
Is Clinique dentaire Florès a real clinic?
No. It is a demo site with a made-up brand, copy and images, built by OKTO Solutions to show a home page with a rippling clear-water light, then a treatment room photo that grows as you scroll. A real clinic adapts it with its own team, treatments and photos.
How much does a site like these cost, and how long does it take to go live?
The price is set after a no-commitment scoping meeting, based on the number of pages, the languages, the copy to write and features like booking or an online store. A simple showcase site goes live quickly; an online store or a client portal takes longer. If you have a fixed date, we build the schedule around it.
Do I own the website?
Yes. The domain name is registered in your name, the copy, images and analytics are yours, and the code is handed over on request.
