Our nonprofit commitment

We get involved with Quebec nonprofits

We get involved with nonprofits, and we take it to heart. These organizations do a lot with very little, and their IT often runs on one well-meaning person who handles it on top of their real job.

OKTO Solutions gets involved with nonprofits and community organizations in Quebec through a nonprofit rate on its managed plans and hands-on help with Microsoft 365, Law 25, backups and websites. Helping a team that carries a cause work without IT headaches truly warms our hearts.

Why we get involved

Why does OKTO get involved with nonprofits?

Because we see how they work. A coordinator who handles registrations, the printer, the Facebook page and everyone’s passwords. A board that votes a tight budget and wants to know ahead of time what IT will cost. Volunteers who show up for one evening or for ten years.

In a nonprofit, every hour lost on a crashing computer is an hour taken from the people it serves. Take that weight off, and the team gets back to its mission. For us, those are often the jobs that make the day worth it.

We won’t make big speeches. We would rather fix the backup that stopped working, close last summer’s intern’s access, and let the team do what it does best.

The OKTO Solutions team

A sponsorship in Trois-Rivières

OKTO Solutions also sponsors Ékip Jeunesse, an organization that helps young people in Trois-Rivières. The rest of our involvement happens one organization at a time, at each one’s pace.

What changes

What does OKTO’s nonprofit commitment change for an organization?

In practice, a nonprofit that works with OKTO Solutions gets a rate of its own and a team that knows its constraints: a budget voted once a year, people who come and go, and sensitive information about donors or clients. The technical details of each service are on our IT for nonprofits page.

A nonprofit rate on our managed plans

Nonprofits get a rate of their own on our managed IT plans. The amount depends on the number of devices and the plan you pick, and it is spelled out in the quote.

A bank of hours when the budget is tight

No room for a monthly plan this year? Prepaid hours, in blocks of 10, 20 or 50, to handle what is urgent and plan the rest.

Microsoft 365 for nonprofits

The organization applies to Microsoft for donated licences, and Microsoft decides. Once the licences are granted, we assign them, secure the accounts and clean up access.

Help with Law 25

The technical measures that back your obligations: role-based access, multifactor authentication, an incident register. Legal questions stay with your advisor.

Backups that are tested

Donor lists, client files and accounting records, backed up with an offsite copy and a restore that has actually been tried.

A website for your organization

A site that states the mission in one sentence and lets people donate online in a few steps. Examples are in our portfolio.

Website examples for organizations: website design for nonprofits and foundations. For donated licences: free and discounted software for nonprofits.

How it works

How does an organization get started with OKTO?

Four short steps, no jargon and no commitment before the quote.

  1. A first callTell us about your mission, your team and what is slowing you down. No strings attached.
  2. A look at your setupDevices, accounts, backups, and where your lists live. We point out what is fragile.
  3. A quote at the nonprofit rateLine by line, with what can wait for the next funding application.
  4. Rollout at your paceWe stay clear of your busy periods, like the year-end campaign or the annual general meeting, then follow up.
What we don’t promise. We don’t decide whether your organization qualifies for Microsoft donations or any other program: the program does. We are not lawyers either. We put the technical measures in place and tell you plainly what can wait.
  • One contact person who knows your organization
  • An amount known in advance, easy to present to the board
  • Work scheduled outside your busy periods

Questions and answers

Questions nonprofits ask about our commitment

Does OKTO offer a reduced rate to nonprofits?
Yes. OKTO Solutions offers a nonprofit rate on its managed IT plans. The amount depends on the number of devices and the plan, and it is written in the quote before you decide anything.
Who qualifies for the nonprofit rate?
Nonprofits and community organizations in Quebec. We confirm it with you on the first call, based on your organization’s status.
Do we need a monthly plan?
No. An organization can start with a prepaid bank of hours, in blocks of 10, 20 or 50 hours, and move to a plan later if the budget allows.
Can OKTO get us Microsoft 365 for free?
Nobody can promise that on Microsoft’s behalf: Microsoft accepts or declines the organization’s application. We can guide you through it, then set up the licences and secure the accounts once you have an answer. Our guide to free and discounted software for nonprofits walks through the steps.
Do you work with organizations outside Trois-Rivières?
Yes. Our office is in Trois-Rivières and remote support covers all of Quebec. We travel across the Mauricie, Greater Montreal and the Quebec City area.
