Demo sites: renovation
A renovation contractor's website in Quebec shows before-and-after photos project by project, displays the RBQ licence number, explains how the quote, written contract and schedule work, and describes only the warranties the company actually offers. It never suggests that the Guarantee Plan for New Residential Buildings covers a renovation. OKTO Solutions builds this kind of website for renovation contractors across Quebec from its office in Trois-Rivières.

Two photos don't tell the whole story. What reassures people is what happened in between: what turned up when the wall came down, the wiring that had to be redone, the beam that needed reinforcing, the call made with the client. A short project page is enough: the room, the town, the type of house, the starting problem and what was done. A slider you drag with your finger works well on phones, as long as both photos share the same framing and format. Group projects by room, kitchen, bathroom, basement, addition, because that is how people search. A homeowner thinking about finishing a basement wants to see one like theirs, not a magazine kitchen.
The Guarantee Plan for New Residential Buildings, run by Garantie de construction résidentielle (GCR), applies to new houses and small new buildings put up by an accredited contractor. It does not cover renovating an existing home. A renovation website should not display the GCR logo as if the work were covered. What you can describe is the company's workmanship warranty, as written in the contract, and the manufacturers' warranties on installed products. The RBQ also points out that every licence comes with a bond that can compensate a client who suffers a loss. One sentence and a link to the licence registry are enough to explain it. Have your warranty wording reviewed by your advisor.
In January 2026, the RBQ urged homeowners to insist on a detailed written contract and a schedule before any home renovation, and to get every verbal agreement in writing. It also tells them to check that the contractor holds the licence subclasses that match the work. A serious contractor gains from showing it already does all that. A How we work page lays out the steps: site visit, detailed quote, contract, schedule, job follow-up and final walkthrough with the client. The licence number also appears on the quote, contract and invoice, as the RBQ requires. A homeowner comparing three contractors sees right away which one has a method. Have your contract template reviewed by your advisor.
| Element | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Before-and-after grouped by room | Homeowners look for a project like their own house and find it fast. |
| Project page with the starting problem | It shows how the company handles surprises hidden inside walls. |
| RBQ licence and subclasses held | The RBQ tells clients to check them before signing, so show them. |
| A page on the quote, contract and schedule | It answers the questions the RBQ encourages clients to ask. |
| Real warranties, no GCR logo out of context | The new home plan does not cover renovating an existing house. |
