Remote first

IT services in the Laurentians, from Blainville to Mont-Tremblant

Between the OKTO Solutions office in Trois-Rivières and the Laurentians towns covered here, there is about 148 km for the closest and about 250 km for the farthest. At that distance, nobody promises a presence. The work is organized to go over the network, and the visits that matter are planned.

OKTO Solutions offers IT services to SMBs in the Laurentians from Trois-Rivières, remotely first. Blainville is about 148 km from the office, Saint-Eustache about 151 km, Mirabel about 156 km, Saint-Jérôme about 164 km and Mont-Tremblant about 250 km. On-site visits are planned ahead and the jobs are bundled.

Can a Trois-Rivières team look after a small business in the Laurentians?

Yes, provided you know what you are buying. OKTO Solutions offers its IT services to Laurentians SMBs from Trois-Rivières, where its only office is located, and has nobody on the ground in the region. Blainville is about 148 km away, Saint-Eustache about 151 km, Mirabel about 156 km, Saint-Jérôme about 164 km and Mont-Tremblant about 250 km. At those distances, the model rests on remote management: the monitoring console sees every site, employee requests are handled over the network, and patches and backups are tracked without travel. Visits are for physical work and are booked ahead. Replacement equipment, for its part, leaves Trois-Rivières already prepared. The Laurentians have eight regional county municipalities and, according to the Institut de la statistique du Québec, 679,190 residents in 2025. Five towns have their own page on this site, each on a distinct topic.

Five towns, five topics

Which Laurentians towns have a page, and how far away are they?

The distance is the one between each town and the Trois-Rivières office. On its own, it explains why everything in this region rests on preparation.

TownDistance from the officeTopic of its page
Blainvilleabout 148 kmThe service level agreement
Saint-Eustacheabout 151 kmOpening or moving an office

No visit time in this table. At those distances, announcing an arrival time would be an empty promise. What is announced is an agreed date and a list of jobs filled in ahead of time.

Several addresses

Three addresses in the region: how are they served?

A company may have an office in Saint-Jérôme, a counter in Saint-Eustache and a service point in Mont-Tremblant. Seen from the monitoring console, that makes one fleet: the three addresses appear side by side, with their workstations, their links and their backups, whichever town they are in.

The same security policies apply everywhere. A laptop in Mont-Tremblant gets the same patches, the same managed antivirus and the same encryption as a workstation in Saint-Jérôme. And when files and applications live in Microsoft 365 or in Azure rather than on a server tucked away at one of the addresses, none of them is the link the other two depend on.

That leaves the physical side. On-site work for the three addresses is bundled into a single round, prepared in advance: nobody drives up to Mont-Tremblant for one wireless access point, the trip is made with the full list. Equipment leaves Trois-Rivières already configured, encrypted and joined to your directory.

What is worth the trip

What justifies the drive to the Laurentians?

Not much, and that is by design. Remote control covers the vast majority of a small business’s daily work. The road is kept for what does not fit through a network cable.

Over the network, without waiting

  • A workstation slowing down, an application closing, a print job stuck
  • A locked account, a password, an employee arriving or leaving
  • Microsoft 365 shared mailboxes and their permissions
  • Security patches, the managed antivirus, encryption on laptops
  • Monitoring of servers, backups and links
  • Restoring a file or a mailbox

On site, during a planned visit

  • Pulling cable, mounting a switch, installing wireless access points
  • Installing a physical server, or taking the old one out
  • Opening, moving or closing a location
  • Replacing a batch of workstations and doing the physical inventory
  • Surveying a server room and the equipment nearing end of life
  • Holding the annual planning meeting with management
A visit is prepared in advance. The task list is drawn up with you and the equipment is configured at the office before leaving. At those distances, one forgotten item would cost a second drive. One announced, well-filled visit beats three round trips for three small jobs.

The IT support page details the left-hand column. The plans include that remote support, and the travel in the right-hand column is planned or billed according to the agreement.

The territory

The Laurentians, a fast-growing region

The 2025 estimate, still provisional, gives the Laurentians 679,190 residents: that is the figure from the Institut de la statistique du Québec. The region is made up of eight regional county municipalities (RCMs). Its five main municipalities account for more than 40% of its population, according to the socio-economic portrait published on Québec.ca.

  • Thérèse-De Blainville RCM: Blainville
  • Deux-Montagnes RCM: Saint-Eustache
  • Mirabel: the city stands as an RCM on its own
  • La Rivière-du-Nord RCM: Saint-Jérôme
  • Les Laurentides RCM: Mont-Tremblant
  • Les Pays-d’en-Haut RCM: services offered, no town page
  • Argenteuil RCM: services offered, no town page
  • Antoine-Labelle RCM: services offered, no town page

The industrial structure of the Laurentians is shaped by the region’s strong population growth, with a marked presence of construction. Manufacturing there leans mostly toward complex processing, and manufacturing activity is concentrated mainly in transportation equipment, meaning aeronautics.

A growing region means businesses that hire, open a second location and change size faster than their IT does. That is when a three-year IT plan keeps you from buying twice, and when an outsourced IT department stands in for an in-house team.

OKTO Solutions has its office in Trois-Rivières. To compare with other territories, see the service areas page. What each offer includes is on our plans, and the protection of accounts and workstations on managed cybersecurity.

Questions and answers

Common questions about the Laurentians

Mont-Tremblant is about 250 km from Trois-Rivières. Does this really work?
For day-to-day needs, yes: they go over the network and distance changes nothing. For the rest, it is best to be frank. A visit to Mont-Tremblant is prepared in advance, with a list of jobs long enough to justify the drive, and no arrival time is published.
Do you have a technician in Blainville or Saint-Jérôme?
No. Nobody is stationed in either town, nor in Saint-Eustache or Mirabel: OKTO Solutions has a single office, and it is in Trois-Rivières. Services are offered to small businesses in the region remotely first, with planned visits.
Our business hires for the season. Can accounts be opened and closed without a visit?
Yes. An employee’s arrival and departure are handled without travel: the account, the mailbox and file access are opened at the start of the contract, then closed at the end. The Mont-Tremblant page is devoted to seasonal businesses.
We are opening a second location in Saint-Eustache. Where do we start?
With a call before the work begins, if possible. Opening a location is one of the things done on site: cabling, switches, wireless access points. The visit is planned, and the workstations arrive from Trois-Rivières already prepared, ready to plug in.
We have nobody in-house for IT. Is that a problem?
No. That is the case the outsourced IT department covers: OKTO Solutions becomes your IT department, with a single point of contact. Your systems keep administrator accounts in your name, and the documentation of your environment belongs to you.
Who decides that a visit is necessary?
The diagnosis. A technician first takes control of the device over the network and works out whether the problem is software, configuration or hardware. If it is hardware, a date is agreed and the visit list fills up with the small jobs waiting at your place.
