The steps

1. Press Windows + Shift + S (or search for Snipping Tool in the Start menu).

4. Click Start. A countdown appears, then the recording begins.
5. To stop, click the Stop button in the bar.
6. The video opens: click Save to keep it, usually in the Videos folder.

3. Method 2: the Xbox Game Bar (with sound)

The steps

1. Open the application or window you want to film.
2. Press Windows + G to open the Game Bar.
3. Find the Capture widget (camera icon). If needed, click the camera icon in the top bar to display it.
4. Click the round record button, or use the shortcut Windows + Alt + R.
5. To pick up your voice, turn on the microphone icon before you start.
6. Press the button again or Windows + Alt + R to stop.

Videos are saved automatically in the Videos > Captures folder. One small limit to keep in mind: the Game Bar films a single window at a time and does not capture the desktop or File Explorer. For those cases, go back to method 1.

4. Method 3: Clipchamp for a quick edit
