IT sales representative job in Trois-Rivières

You develop new small and mid-sized business accounts in Trois-Rivières and across Quebec, from prospecting through to signature. You translate the business value of cybersecurity, Microsoft 365 and cloud without having to be a technician yourself.

The sales representative at OKTO Solutions develops new small and mid-sized business accounts in Trois-Rivières and across Quebec, from active prospecting through to signature. The role presents managed IT, cloud, cybersecurity and networking services, then hands the account to the internal teams once the sale closes. Applications go to info@oktosolutions.ca.

Most first meetings happen with the owner, not with an IT department.

The role

What does a sales representative do at OKTO Solutions?

Your mission is to generate new business opportunities and close managed IT services sales with small and mid-sized businesses. You are responsible for developing new accounts, from active prospecting all the way to signing agreements. The work sits at the front end of the sales cycle: identifying prospects, qualifying them, presenting our services and negotiating. Once the sale is closed, the handoff to the internal teams is made so the rollout of the services goes smoothly, which means you are not carrying an account forever while trying to open the next one. The role suits a self-reliant, results-oriented person who is comfortable with prospecting and driven by performance. It is based in Trois-Rivières and the territory covers all of Quebec.

Key responsibilities

What the job asks of you every week

Nine responsibilities, in roughly the order a deal moves through them.

  1. Prospect actively for new clients, through calls, emails, LinkedIn and referrals.
  2. Identify and qualify sales opportunities.
  3. Present the services: managed IT, cloud, cybersecurity and networking.
  4. Understand the client’s basic needs well enough to propose the right offer.
  5. Prepare and present simple, effective business proposals.
  6. Negotiate the terms and close the sale.
  7. Meet and exceed the monthly and annual sales targets.
  8. Document opportunities and activities in the CRM.
  9. Work with the technical team to validate the feasibility of the solutions sold.
You are not selling alone. The feasibility of what you propose gets checked with the technical team before it goes out, and the people who deliver it are the ones you will see in the office. Our how we quote page shows exactly how a proposal is built.

What we look for

Skills and experience

The technical depth is on our side of the table. What we are looking for is someone who can sit across from an owner, understand a business that has nothing to do with technology, and say plainly what our service would change for them.

  • B2B sales experience, ideally in an MSP environment
  • Solid understanding of managed and co-managed IT services
  • Knowledge of cloud, cybersecurity, networking and telecom environments
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and client relationship skills
  • Autonomy, initiative and a results-driven mindset

Assets, not requirements

  • French and English bilingualism
  • Training in sales or business administration
  • Experience selling managed IT services or working in an MSP environment

Growth here comes mainly from referrals by satisfied clients, which changes how a first meeting goes.

  • An established business network in Quebec
  • Proficiency with a CRM such as HubSpot or Microsoft Dynamics
  • Knowledge of Microsoft licensing programs

Who owns what

Where your job stops and the delivery team’s begins

The line is drawn on purpose. It keeps the representative in front of prospects instead of buried in service tickets.

StageWho leads itWhat comes out of it
Prospecting and qualification You, through calls, emails, LinkedIn and referrals Qualified opportunities documented in the CRM
Presenting the services You Managed IT, cloud, cybersecurity and networking explained in business terms
Feasibility check The technical team, with you Confirmation that what is being proposed can actually be delivered
Proposal and negotiation You A simple, effective proposal and agreed terms
Signature You A signed agreement and a new account
Rollout of the services The internal teams A smooth handoff, so you can go back to opening the next account

What you would be presenting is described on the managed IT services page and the cybersecurity page. The people who deliver it are hiring too, starting with the level 2 IT specialist role.

Who you are

The kind of person who does well in this role

OKTO Solutions grows mainly through referrals from satisfied clients. That sets the tone for the sales role: the promise made at the table has to survive the first ninety days of service, so honesty is not a value on a poster here, it is the thing that keeps the referrals coming.
