On-site IT technician job in Trois-Rivières

You spend part of the week directly at our clients' sites, in Trois-Rivières and the surrounding region, as the hands-on point of contact for their users. The rest of the time you support the service desk remotely.

The hybrid on-site IT technician at OKTO Solutions works directly at client premises in Trois-Rivières and the surrounding region a few days a week, then joins the service desk for remote support the rest of the time. The job covers installations, equipment checks, project work and documentation. Applications go to info@oktosolutions.ca.

The role

What does a hybrid on-site IT technician do at OKTO Solutions?

As a hybrid on-site IT technician, you support our clients directly at their facilities a few days per week. You are the point of contact their users see in person: the one who installs the workstation, chases the cable that goes nowhere, and answers the question somebody has been sitting on since Tuesday. On those days you also handle the support and maintenance tasks that cannot be done remotely, and you check servers and network equipment alongside the systems administrators. When you are not on site, you join the service team to provide remote support through calls, emails, chat and alert handling. The role builds concrete hands-on experience inside a structured managed services environment, and it is based in Trois-Rivières with travel in the surrounding region.

Some of this job needs a toolbox. That is the part people miss when they only work remotely.

Key responsibilities

The two halves of the week

The role is written as one job, not two. What changes from one day to the next is where you are sitting and what you can reach with your hands.

  • Take part in certain project activities as needed

  • Thoroughly document interventions and the technical information gathered

On the service desk

  • Assist the service desk in resolving client incidents
  • Analyse requests to determine their priority and impact
  • Apply escalation procedures when required
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot software, workstations, peripherals and mobile devices remotely
  • Provide clear and professional follow-up with users
  • Update internal systems and documentation
  • Take part in the on-call rotation based on operational needs
  • Collaborate with the infrastructure and project teams

On days without a visit, the work moves back to the desk and the phone.

What we look for

Skills, experience and technical knowledge

  • Comfortable with MSP support and management tools
  • Availability for travel to client sites and for the on-call rotation

Knowledge of deploying, configuring and managing

  • Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
  • Firewalls, switches and wireless networks
  • Microsoft 365 and Exchange
  • Windows workstations and servers
  • iOS and Android devices
  • VMware virtualisation

How does this role compare with the level 1 IT specialist?

Both roles answer users. One does it mostly through a headset, the other does it standing next to the machine a few days a week.
