Capitale-Nationale
IT services in the Capitale-Nationale, from Portneuf to Quebec City
Between Trois-Rivières and Quebec City lies Portneuf. That is where the Capitale-Nationale begins for us: Donnacona is about 87 km from the office, Quebec City about 129 km. OKTO Solutions has no premises in the region and offers its services there over the network, with planned visits.
OKTO Solutions offers its services to Capitale-Nationale businesses from Trois-Rivières, remote first, with planned visits. Six cities have their own page: Donnacona, Pont-Rouge and Saint-Raymond in Portneuf, then Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, L’Ancienne-Lorette and Quebec City, between about 87 and 129 km from the office.
Who offers IT services to businesses in the Capitale-Nationale?
OKTO Solutions offers its services to SMBs in the Capitale-Nationale without keeping an office there: everything starts from Trois-Rivières, remote first, and visits are planned. The region begins well before Quebec City. Donnacona is about 87 km from the office, Pont-Rouge about 93 km, Saint-Raymond about 95 km, Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures about 109 km, L’Ancienne-Lorette about 124 km and Quebec City about 129 km. The first three belong to the regional county municipality of Portneuf, the other three to the Quebec City agglomeration. Help for employees, the watch kept on workstations and servers, protection against threats, Microsoft 365 and backups all travel over the network, whatever the city. A technician makes the trip for hardware, on an agreed date, and the job list is drawn up with the company before leaving. Data stays in Canada by default, and the Base, Standard and Complet plans are the same as in the rest of Quebec.
Six cities
Which cities in the Capitale-Nationale have their own page?
They are listed by distance from our office, nearest first. Each one takes up a separate subject, so that no page repeats its neighbour. The Quebec City page deals with an issue particular to the capital; this page looks at the region as a whole.
| City | Distance from the office | What its page covers |
|---|---|---|
| Donnacona | about 87 km | Secure remote work |
| Pont-Rouge | about 93 km | Backing up Microsoft 365 |
| Saint-Raymond | about 95 km | How a quote is built |
| Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures | about 109 km | Custom applications and AI |
| L’Ancienne-Lorette | about 124 km | Choosing your plan |
| Quebec City | about 129 km | Compliance evidence for insurers and government departments |
The Portneuf corridor
Why does Portneuf take up so much of this page?
Because it is the part of the region closest to us. Donnacona, Pont-Rouge and Saint-Raymond are about 87, 93 and 95 km from the Trois-Rivières office. The regional county municipality of Portneuf brings together 18 municipalities, and those three cities alone hold half of its population, according to the county.
The economy there looks nothing like the capital’s. Wood processing, primary metal processing and non-metallic mineral products carry a lot of weight, and the county describes itself as the most agricultural territory in the Capitale-Nationale. Tourism rounds out the picture.
For IT, that produces mixed environments: a few workstations in the office, others in the shop or on the farm, and sometimes an Internet link less generous than in town. We allow for it from the start, by running backups when nobody is working and by keeping files usable offline.
The model itself does not change. A locked account in Saint-Raymond is fixed over the network, exactly as it would be in Quebec City. A visit is for cabling, a switch, a wireless access point or a server, and it is booked ahead.
- Office and shop-floor workstations in one environment
- Backups run outside working hours
- Working files usable offline
Example screen of a commissioning job done during a planned visit: the switch ports are tested one at a time, then the steps are ticked off. The readings shown are for illustration.
The MRC de Portneuf is above all a resource region. Its economic vitality is dominated by manufacturing, agriculture and tourism.
Two realities
What sets Quebec City apart from the rest of the region?
The weight of the city, first of all. The Capitale-Nationale had about 814,000 residents on July 1, 2025, by the provisional figure of the Institut de la statistique du Québec, and Quebec City holds close to three quarters of them. The region is made up of seven regional county municipalities and equivalent territories. In 2025, public services accounted for 35.5% of its jobs and manufacturing for 6.6%, according to the Quebec government’s socioeconomic profile.
In the Quebec City agglomeration
Work for a government department or an insurer and you get asked for evidence: who has access to what, since when, under what protection. The IT services in Quebec City page is devoted to that file.
In Portneuf
The environment is often smaller and more scattered, sometimes with nobody whose trade is IT. The need is simple: that things work, and that someone answers when they stop working. That is the job of IT support.
One address in each
A head office in Quebec City and a shop in Donnacona make one environment: same accounts in Microsoft 365, same security rules, same number to call. Both addresses can be visited on the same trip.
Network or visit
What goes over the network, what waits for a visit
Most of a small business’s requests are settled without anyone taking the road. Here is how the most common ones are handled, whatever the city.
| The request | How it is handled |
|---|---|
| Someone can no longer sign in | Remotely, during the call |
| A phishing email has been opened | Remotely: the account is locked, then checked |
| A mailbox was deleted by mistake | Remotely, from the backup |
| A new hire needs a laptop | Prepared in Trois-Rivières, it leaves ready to plug in |
| New premises have to be cabled | On site, on an agreed date |
| A switch or a wireless access point is due for replacement | On site, along with the other jobs waiting |
Every territory appears on the service areas page. West of Portneuf begins the Mauricie, where our office is. For the obligations around personal information, see Law 25 for small businesses, and to plan your spending, the virtual CIO module.
